Behind Kulturî

Kulturî — guardians of memory

An open project, made with love, to keep Kurdish culture and heritage alive in four languages.

Kulturî was begun in 2026 by a small circle of Kurds at home and in the diaspora who realised, with each elder we lost, how much was leaving us unrecorded. The grandmother who knew the songs of her mother. The grandfather who could read the kilim's geometry like a page of poetry. The cousin who'd learned a recipe nowhere written down.

Everything here is freely available under Creative Commons CC BY-SA 4.0 — copy it, share it, translate it, build on it. The site is multilingual on purpose: a Kurd in Berlin reading in German, in Diyarbakır in Turkish, in Beirut in Arabic should each find their own kin here.

If you can contribute — a story, a photograph, a recipe, a correction — please do. This is everyone's archive.
