The city's history
Wan (Van)
Wan is as old as history itself: the citadel of Tushpa was the capital of the Urartian kingdom in the 9th century BC. On the shores of its lake, the Kurds have lived for thousands of years. Today it is famous for the Van cat — with two different-coloured eyes — and for its white Van cheese.
