Şivan Perwer

A pivotal Kurdish singer, born in Siverek (Turkey) in 1955. Forced into German exile in the 1980s for his patriotic songs, his pieces *Helebçe* and *Kîne Em?* became anthems for two generations of Kurds. Millions have gathered at Newroz festivals to see him perform.
