The greatest Kurdish national poet of the 20th century. Born Şêxmûs Hesen in 1903 near Mardin, he emigrated to Syria and was among the pioneers of *Hawar* magazine. He wrote thousands of verses in Kurmanji on love, the homeland and resistance. He lived in Aden, Germany and Sweden, and died in Stockholm in 1984. His collection "Bzanin" is itself a school of poetry.
