Biography
The foremost Sorani Kurdish poet of the 20th century, born in Sulaymaniyah in 1940. He pioneered Kurdish free verse and wrote epics and hymns of freedom. He lived in Swedish exile from 1986–1992, returning to Sulaymaniyah until his death in 2013. He received the Kurt Tucholsky Prize for forbidden literature.
